OUGD504- Studio Workshop 3

We were asked to think about how we perceive a logo/brand.  The example that was used was the 1970's Nasa Logo:

We discussed the colour and what it may signify. The red reflects danger, exploration and has a patriotic symbolism. The black logo could be for legibility depending on the ground.

The letterforms communicate futurism and sci-fi through the curved corners and stripped back features. The pipe like forms signify the tubes that connect to the astronauts life line. The A and the S are connected, this is used to create another meaning. The A stands for astronaut and the S stands for spirit.

The example helped to strip logos down into the details and to consider the concept.

We got into groups and had a discussion about the logos we had collected. Hearing other peoples findings, opinions and interpretations was interesting.
